Runoilee niin kuin Ruuneperi

It's the day of our National poet, Johan Ludvig Runeberg. (And the title of this post is a silly phrase among us Finns, I can't really translate it directly but it's like someone talks a lot, goes on and on like a poet.)
If you want some extra info about this guy, click here for wikipedia's always so reliable articles. ;)

We usually celebrate this day with some "Runebergin torttu", sweet tart named after him. When I was little, I heard a story behind this pastry saying that some authoritative or royal guests we're coming over to Runeberg's home. But there wasn't anything to serve with coffee, what a shame! His wife Fredrika was a bright lady and put together this pastry from some left over crumbles on the cupboard floor. It was a success and became a traditional treat. Because of this story I never wanted to taste it, since I thought it was made the same way this day - from old bread crumbles and such! Haha, how wrong was I. They're delicious and moist little treats. And the story wasn't even true, as I've now later read. You can find english recipes via google, here's one.

Those dishes are Finnish design, "Taika" (engl. meaning 'Spell') by Arabia.
I love Klaus Haapala's illustrations. He has one named after me (haha not really),
Satumetsä = engl. meaning 'Fairytale Woods'. There's a sweet looking deer illustration.
But that's not for sale/on production anymore, too bad..

I might not get any of these sweet things this year, since I'm resting home on my day off with lady problems and trying to do some work. But there's something special planned for tonight with my friend, since we're going to see the Silver Linings Playbook! I don't know a single thing about it before hand (I just added link to IMDB for you guys) and I really don't want to either so I wont expect anything :) All I know is that there's some familiar comedy-heroes, like the always adorable Bradley Cooper .. and the girl from Hunger Games. The one you all know by name Jennifer Lawrence but I'll never remember it. (thanks Google.) And the fact that I just love the music on the trailer.. I heard this for the first time on Frank Vinyl-blog, it's one of the background songs. x Happy Tuesday!
edit: staying home with this twisting tummy & some favourite series on TV - How I met your mother, Mentalist, Holmes NYC, Grimm, House, Supernatural and Numb3rs. And some chocolate.

The Lumineers - Ho Hey

Kuulin ekaa kertaa tuon kipaleen Frank Vinyl -blogin taustalla. :)
Mukavaa tiistaipäivän jatkoa ! edit: pysyttelinkin kotona vatsanväänteineni sekä muutamien lemppari tv-sarjojen äärellä - Ensisilmäyksellä, Mentalist, Holmes NYC, Grimm, House, Supernatural ja Num3rot. Ja vähän suklaata.

  1. It seems the greatest stories are never true. Such a shame.

  2. Isn't it so funny how certain phrases just don't translate into other languages, and if you try to translate them they just loose their meaning? I think it is wonderful that you celebrate a poet in this way. The tart sounds delish! :)

  3. Sounds like a funny story. ;) But the tartes are too good for not eating. We had some at work today, so I don´t need to eat my own.

  8. The tart looks delicious! I haven´t heard of him before, I have too google this guy later :)
I have seen the movie, I was a bit disappointed actually.. it was funny and romantic. But since I have bipolar disorder myself (type 2 that is) I felt that the movie lacked something.. Or maybe I just have to see it again ;)
I love all the pictures in your "homely nights" post - we too like to snuggle up inside with good food and a movie :)
And all the planners you found on Etsy = love!

We have been to IKEA twice this week, and tomorrow we will get a new bed and desk delivered + some other stuff. So in a couple of days our little nest will look quite different! :D

Thanks for all your lovely words Satu - it´s always so nice when you stop by my blog :)
I am terrible at knitting by the way. So I buy wool socks at H&M ;) (and knitted mittens and headbands at Etsy ;) )
